Chulalongkorn Hospital launches Bhumimangalanusorn Building for premium in-house patients yet affordable by Thais.

Chulalongkorn University opens Bhumimangalanusorn Building, the premium in-house patients ward yet affordable by Thais of all income levels. The building brought beds from all operating buildings under one roof and already has started operating. The service is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. The old building will be turned partly into the office and the green area.

Professor Dr. Suthipong Vacharasindhu, director of Chulalongkorn Univerisity and the dean of Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn Univerisity said at the press conference Thai people need accessible, fast and integrated medical services that covers from primary to tertiary services. Chulalongkorn University is in the position to provide those services with ethics and international standard for Thais fro all walks of life. THB 1.6 billion was spent on the construction of this 29-storey building which has the utilization space of 22,475.25 square meters and took 6 years to build. The space are proportionately divided into zones that covers medical services, classrooms, accommodation. The building is now party opened, for instance, 19th floor is an ordinary patients ward, 28th floor is for single-room patients, 7th floor is for blood x-ray and interventional radiology etc. The building is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2016. It serves all in-house patients except pediatrics which has its own building.

The building has 1,100 bed. Floor 1-10 is for diagnosis and treatments, for example, 2nd floor is for X-Ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT Scan. Floor 6-8 are for operation rooms and ICU is located on 10th floor. Floor 11 for medical staff accommodation, floor 12-13 are meeting rooms and classrooms that can accommodate up to 2,500 people per day. Floor 15-28 are for patients which are divided into 4 levels. They are floor 15-19 for ordinary patients with 2, 4 and 6 beds types, special room, special deluxe room with sofa for accompanying relatives and Bhumsiri Suites with separate room for accompanying relatives. The suites are on the 28th floor and are 20 in number which will be increased to 40 in the future. Room rates starts from THB 800 to 12,000 and these rooms are decorated based on convenience, beauty and view like leading private hospitals yet same affordable fees for rich and poor, reflecting the "Red Cross" attitude, according to the director.

Bhumimangalanusorn Building puts all types of patients bed under one roof for convenience in providing the treatment and medical services. The 8-9 buildings registered as archeological sites will be kept as a heritage and adapted into office space. The rest of the buildings will be demolished and turned into green space for 30% of the area. New building will be built for elderly patients and medical offices to honor their majesty the King and Queen for the auspicious occasion of their majesties 66th wedding anniversary, His Majesty the King's 70th anniversary of his accession to the throne, Her Majesty the Queen's 84th birthday anniversary and Her Majesty the Queen's 60th anniversary of assuming the Council Chairwoman of Thai Red Cross title.
